Surface Tension, Interfacial Segregation, and Graphite Shape in Cast Irons

چکیده
Using literature data on iron melts, an expression of the surface tension cast melts as a function temperature and composition was obtained. Its predictions were satisfactorily compared with reported experimental results. Then, analysis information sessile drop experiments onto graphite substrates showed strong adhesion between these two phases when sulfur is present its dramatic decrease activity reduced by addition spheroidizers such Mg Ce. Finally, discussion results segregation impurities trace elements at matrix interface in irons led to proposal scheme for their effect shape.

Graphite Morphology’s Influence on Shot Peening Results in Cast Irons
The different shot peening responds of a grey cast iron (GI) with its flake graphite and a compacted cast iron (CGI) with its vermicular graphite was analyzed and compared in this paper. For peening using identical parameters, CGI showed a larger plastic deformation zone with higher subsurface compressive stresses than GI. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) mapping and backscatter electron...

The aim of the present research is to identify the manufacturing factors that exert an active influence on the graphite phase formation in mottled Nihard cast irons constituting the roll shells of duplex work rolls processed by the double pour method during centrifugal casting. The studied rolls, referred to as alloy indefinite chill, were processed at industrial scale and had a core consisting...

A. Vaško, L. Trško, R. Konečná, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Žilina, Žilina, Slovak Republic The paper shows the influence of charge composition on microstructure, fatigue properties and failure micromechanisms of nodular cast irons. The additive of metallurgical silicon carbide (SiC) in analysed specimens increases the content of ferrite in the matrix, decreases the size of...
متن کاملDelamination Wear Mechanism in Gray Cast Irons
An investigation of the friction and sliding wear of gray cast iron against chromium plated cast irons was carried out on a newly constructed reciprocating friction and wear tester. The tests were the first to be done on the test rig under dry conditions and at the speed of 170 cm/min, and variable loads of 20-260 N for a duration of 15 min. to 3 hours. The gray cast iron surfaces worn by a pro...
